Taking the first step towards internet business? Yes, I’m going to tell you exactly how I got started and how you can adapt my experience to suit yourself.
Question: Do you wonder why, after months (if not years) of studying and researching internet business, you still cannot take the first step forward?
I know it’s always mysteriously hard to take that little first step.
I’ve been there before wasting almost 10 years before I actually started mine. But once you do, it’s a breeze. Once you know how to get started, it’s super easy.
Here are what I did when I got myself started
1. Stop listening to fake promises:
The Internet is full of noises and con artists. They like to come at you and promise you unlimited automatic income if you invest in their “magic system” and do nothing else.
Having income by doing nothing…?? A dream lifestyle? Yes, it is a dream.
When something is too good to be true, it is indeed too good to be true (or, in simple English, it’s not true.)
All these magic systems come in many shapes and forms e.g. “super profitable niche identification tool”, “ultimate automatic website that generates 10,000 dollars every week”, or “7-day course for newbies that will make you 5,000 dollars a day as soon as you complete the course”
Look out for “buy my secret system, and then BAM! You get X amount of dollars every day” and stop listening to them.
I’m telling you. A real business has no secret magic.
You will need to take actions consistently to earn it. Of course, internet business is special as there are many ways to automate it, but that doesn’t mean no effort at all.
2. Stop reading books:
Don’t get me wrong. I love reading books too. But for the sake of starting a business, try not to read more than 3 business books before you get started.
Reading so many books is likely to prevent you from taking the first action. Because you’re too overwhelmed and are not sure which technique from which book to be used.
Look carefully. Every best-selling business book is very good. Their advice is so invaluable. But why most people who read them are not going anywhere? Because it’s super, super tough if you try to implement everything that’s written in those books.
I’m sure if you can even follow half of the advice in one book you will be a super (business) man already.
Just stick with 1-2 or at the maximum 3 books. Pick a few pieces of advice from those books and take actions now.
Oh and don’t worry. You will know when you need to read more books.
3. Stop following Guru:
Guru Guru Guru… On the internet, there’re lots of gurus. Lots of big names. If you are totally new, then it’s probably good to get to know some big names and understand their businesses, past experiences, and histories.
For your inspiration. For you to know that internet success can really happen.
But don’t get sucked into all the gurus’ world. They’re talking about 6-figure, 7-figure or even 8-figure internet business income.
Why? Because you are likely to set your expectation that if you create the same internet empire just like them today, you will earn as much.
This is dangerous.
If you try to build a huge business like them right off the bat, it’s very likely that you need to invest loads of money. And potentially not going get the same result as those gurus did in the past.
It’s not the same time and circumstances. You won’t become successful by just copying them.
Rome is not built in one day. The same goes for these gurus’ businesses. They’ve worked their asses off for years before they actually succeeded.
And believe me, they all started “small”
Then they consistently take actions, pivot their approach, and take actions… over and over. That’s how they become who they are today.
So, stop listening to gurus for the next few weeks.
Look for 2-3 people who are just a few steps ahead of you in terms of building an internet business. Get in touch with them via Twitter, Facebook, email list, whatsoever. Then follow their footsteps.
This way, you will have a clear idea of how you will be like in the next few months. It will be much easier for you to take actions when you can see what’s going to happen in the short run.
4. Stop seeing it through.
Take small, consistent actions every day. Believe me, it’s small actions that count.
The problem is you might be saying that you don’t know what kind of actions you should take because you didn’t see it through. And you don’t have a clear vision of how everything will work out.
Well. Let me tell you.
You don’t plan too far ahead. You do what you can do today. You keep doing what you’ve done right. You correct what you’ve done wrong.
And take actions again.
Don’t expect to see it through since it’s not really possible that you will see the end of your business from the starting point.
You only need to believe in the path you take.
Thinking about when you’re driving in the dark highway to a destination you never been before. You know in your heart that the road will lead to the destination. But you can only see 20-30 meters (yards) ahead from the headlamp.
But still, you keep driving and driving and eventually you get to the destination.
The same goes for business. Your destination is a successful business. You need to take actions to get there, even it’s dark and you cannot see the end.
You might get lost sometimes. That’s okay. Everybody gets lost every now and then. Do course correction, and move on.
Now it’s time for you to take your actions. Just do what you can do. Start your own blog. Build your email list. Start a real internet business. Make money and live the life you want.
