This is a following post from the previous one. If you haven’t read it, check it out here: How to Get Un-Stuck from Any Situation in 5 Seconds
How to be efficient when you’re in control of your brain?
That’s the question.
Sometimes, we’re not really in control and let our brain works on autopilot. When that happens, you don’t get the best out of what your brain has to offer.
Especially when you let your brain runs wild the moment you got so overwhelmed that you don’t know what to do next.
Say if you are able to get yourself back to your senses.
Then what’s next?
First, shift focus from thinking mode to action mode
Stop thinking: “omg what I’m gonna do if XXX continues”
And quickly ask yourself: “Okay, what’s the next thing I can do that can make an impact on my business/relationship/life (you name it)?”
This particular action is very powerful when you do it right after you did the 5-second rule
Second, make sure it aligns with your bigger goal
Make a quick validation if the next thing you’re to do is bringing you closer to your bigger goal. (e.g. creating another stream of income so that you can quit your day job.)
Don’t dwindle here more than a minute.
Don’t over-analyze it.
Just answer “Yes” or “No”
If it’s a “Yes” then,
Third, take small actions the right away. 20 minutes at a time
You’re burning to take an action now, but in many times, you find yourself again overwhelmed because your next thing consists of too many tasks/sub-goals.
Here’s what you need to do:
Breaking big goals into a series of small goals. And breaking already small goals to even smaller goals.
Keep breaking your goals until it’s become tasks that are small enough for you to complete each in 20 minutes.
Then, complete one small 20-minute task at a time.
Here’s you should be able to quickly be super efficient with your brain.
It’s like riding on a supercar. You can go very, very fast.
While you can get to your goal very quickly, the supercar can also bring you into a wrong destination very quickly too.
That’s just natural. Speed and power are meaningless if you don’t use them properly.
So my last note for you here.
